What We Did
We transformed NBCUniversal’s London Office into an interactive employee ‘festival’ designed to increase engagement and encourage curiosity and learning in the ever evolving digital environment.
With a complete office takeover, a ‘meeting free day’ was mandated across the business to ensure employees could prioritise attending the event with strong support and presence from senior leadership. Working in partnership with teams from across the business, the initiative was driven by the Internal Communication team, with support from across facilities, security, operations and technology - a truly collaborative effort to pull off such a large in-office event.
Our main keynote space hosted a series of TED-style talks from industry leaders, as well as a ‘Shark Tank’ , a dragon's den inspired experience that saw an incubator team win big. An entire floor of meeting rooms were transformed into interactive workshop spaces focused on learning, up-skilling and cross-department collaboration.
To increase engagement, we gamified the experience - and the more employees interacted with Q&A sessions or workshops, the more chance they had at winning a prize. We published a leader board on digital screens throughout the day and winners were awarded with a selection of amazing prizes. Festival style food and drink was on offer, and we ended the day with a summer drinks party on the rooftop.
Digifest ran for three consecutive years from 2017-2020 and was ahead of the curve with it's innovative content around artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
The Result
With over 1,200 employees in attendance each year, the event is recognised as a favourite amongst staff. 96% of the UK workforce told us that they learned new skills that they will take back into the business, and that they felt inspired and motivated to continue learning digital initiatives.
